Nothing affects the long term reliability of a server more than the server's physical environment. SPLtrak's servers are on a private network within a 14,000 square foot state-of-the-art data center located in the San Diego Technology Center.
Many commercial data centers have been retrofitted into old office buildings or factories. This building was designed, from the ground up, to provide a reliable and safe environment for internet servers. The environmental controls are engineered to maximize hardware life. Cool temperatures, clean power, and a server-friendly fire suppression system, combine to minimize unexpected down time.
A major benefit of housing our servers within this large data center is the availability of skilled technicians 24/7/365. In the event a server experiences an untimely hardware failure, the staff is already onsite day or night to make the repairs quickly.
Our private network is designed with redundancy and load sharing. Data are simultaneously written to multiple servers, and multiple hard drives within the server. Even a catastrophic failure of multiple hard drives and/or servers will not result in data loss. In most cases, a hardware failure will be unnoticed by the end user. When the hardware is repaired, full capacity is seamlessly restored.
